OJ "The Juice" Simpson
OJ Simpson was a former football star, a two time All-American running back for USC who won the Heisman in 1968. Then, he became the first NFL player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season, and led the NFL in rushing four times. After retiring from football in 1979, he became a sportscaster and actor. Suddenly, the country was taken by surprise when OJ Simpson was charged with the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. On June 12, 1994 in Los Angeles, the bodies were found brutally stabbed to death. Police traced the evidence to OJ Simpson. When Simpson was ordered to turn himself in, he instead led a nationally televised chase with the police. He eventually surrendered. Despite being found with a gun, passport, and a disguise, he told police he wasn't running and wasn't guilty. After 9 months, on national television the jury found Simpson not guilty of either murder. Many people were astounded. How could a murderer get away so easily? Others rejoiced, however, especially African-Americans. They believed that Simpson's win in the trial made up for the brutal beating of Rodney King, a black man who was the victim of racism.

This case was such a surprise to most Americans at this time. To many, it was such a surprise to see a role model put in the position of murder. To this day, the question still stands as to whether or not he is guilty and it is very interesting.
