The Causes of 9/11
9/11 was not just some simple attack on the Twin Towers. Osama Bin Laden definetely did not just wake up the morning of September 11 and decide that he was going to bomb New York. Bin Laden and some of his others developed a sense of hatred towards the United States starting almost 20 years before. The Afghanistan War, the hate crimes toward jewish rabiis, and many other events that started in like the 1980s all led up to Al Qaeda's hate towards the United States. They all blamed the United States for everything that had happened to Saudi Arabia and their culture.

I feel that one of the biggest reasons Bin Laden despised America so much was because America was the only world superpower. This angered him because he wanted to be seen as the most powerful person in the world. When Bin Laden offered to protect Saudi Arabia from the attacking Arabs, the government turned him down since they had already gotten aid from the US army. Since this was a chance for him to either show his worth or take over the country, he was not happy because the US army had taken away his opportunity.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find most interesting about the 9/11 attacks was that the terrorists who hijacked the planes actually lived in America for a year before committing the attacks. I am not entirely sure why they needed to do this but I do think it is something that should be noted.
ReplyDeleteAlong with their developed hatred for the United States several years prior to the terrorist attack came their long developed plan that had been in the works with precision. The attack was planned on a very large scale as there were several members of the attack group working on every aspect of the attack necessary all over the world, and came together as one the day of the attack. Detailed plans from choosing international planes to hijack because of the mass amounts of fuel, to waiting until congress returned from their meeting to create maximum chaos were plotted.Osama's goal in life was to travel to America to blow up jews as he stated.
ReplyDeleteThe reason that caused the hatered towards the United States contained reasons such as revenge of some sort. The Al Qaeda was formed becuase of the hatered towards the US and the revenge that against them as well. They both hated and seaked revenge on the US since they thought that the involvement of the US in protecting the "Holy Land" was not requested and only "Holy" fighters should protect it.
