Y2K

Y2K

The year 2000 or as more commonly known by its acronym, "y2k" or "the Millenium bug" was a point in the late 90s where people grew fearful of the great ambush of the computers and technology. Due to the fact that computers were programmed to store "year values as two-digit figures," it was widely acknowledged by everyone that it could lead to some defaults because the computer would think that the next input would be 00; the next two digits have a smaller value compared to 99 which people thought would have negative side effects like causing all technology to go out of control.

From then on technology only went up, and the improvement became so significant to the people that devices became life changing.

  2. Its insane to think how much effort was put into avoiding the 'end of the world' as people said. Sure, there was a threat of some computer malfunctions, but people entirely blew it out of proportion. A surprising amount of America had actual fear that here would be nuclear disasters and and end to the world.

  3. The impact of technology has become increasing its presence in our everyday lives. It is interesting to see the scare it had on people to think that we would be without it, or it would malfunction at some point. It causes you to think about how healthy it is to have our world run by technology.
