Silicon Chip
Integrated cirtcuit or in other words Chips (silicon chips) were considered one of the greatest breakthroughs for technology at the time. What made this "Chip" so special was that it advanced the storage capacity of actions in a computer or any technological device. The other reason that made the Silicon Chip such a breakthrough was that it revolutionized the ability for computing programs and actions to a smaller and more compact space. The cost of the Silicon Chips were supprisingly low since it did not require much materials to make and they could be mass produced which would later benefit the popularity of the Silicon Chip. A man by the name of Kilby was the first person to ever create a first functioning Intergrated Circuit on September 12, 1958. Kilby was also given the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics for being the first person in inventing the integrated circuit and his contribution to the success of the intergrated circuit. Withought his help and without the help of everyone else that was part of the success of the intergrated circuit we would not be able to obtain such devices as we have today.

Because chips became smaller, laptops were possible. Without laptops, we could not use technology the way we do in classrooms and in everyday life as we do today. The innovation of a smaller chip is the main reason computers are an essential part of our lives.
